Erin Gorman, MA, LMHC
Hello, and thank you for visiting! My name is Erin Gorman and I am here for you.
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in NYS, practicing for over 20 years. My background includes a Bachelors in Psychology from Hartwick College, and a Community Psychology and Art Therapy degree from Sage Graduate School.
I spent the early part of my career working directly with adolescents and families in residential counseling settings. I had the privilege to bear witness to their stories as they allowed me to gently work through their trauma as they struggled with grief and loss, anxiety, self-injury, depression and PTSD. In addition, I worked in a Mental Health Clinic as an Administrator. This position allowed me to work directly with area schools to assist with providing services to meet the mental health needs of their students. I continued to see children, adolescents , adults and families at the clinic, as well as provide clinical supervision to clinicians.
Art Therapy has been a means that I have used throughout my entire career. I feel that this modality often can facilitate communication with the client, allowing them to find their inner voice. Additional treatment modalities includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focused CBT, Family Systems and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). I am experienced in trauma, depression, PTSD, attachment issues, family systems issues, and anxiety disorders.
